Q. Is Coco 66 a bar or a venue?
We're both. The back room is a 200 capacity live entertainment venue for musicians, comics, film screenings, and more. Our classic neighborhood bar is located in a separate front room.
Q. What does the space LQQK like?
What we look like now: Stage / Bar / Bar Seating / Pool Table
Past looks: One & Two & Three
Q. Is there a cover charge?
The front bar, with extremely rare exception, is free and open to the public. Admission to the live room varies from event to event, but we do host many free parties. Check the calendar for details.
Q. Is there a Green Room for bands?
Yes, and it's quite nice: skylight, private stage door, room for both gear and hanging out.
Q. Is the venue looking for staff, interns, or volunteers?
We are not hiring at the moment but, you can always drop off a resume. We always need folks to help work the door, pass out fliers around town, assist with room setup, and more. If you're feeling helpful and altruistic email Ben and he will try to put you to work for far less than you are worth.
Q. What's a typical crowd like?
Union reps and Greenpoint legends, artists & hipsters from every demo, local professionals and 4pm happy-hour enthusiasts - all getting along and swapping stories.
Q. What's the area like?
There's some street parking, a great park nearby, new locally owned shops popping up constantly, great food, a view of Manhattan from Transmitter Park. Greenpoint rules. Viva Peter Pan doughnuts.
Q. Where did the name Coco 66 come from?
The building was once a chocolate factory, and we're located at 66 Greenpoint Ave.
Q. What's your take on Cassavetes?
After talking about this in letters & on the phone, we still don't know how we really feel about it.
